We collect information you provide directly when you create an account, use our tools, or contact us:
- Account data: name, email address, and profile photo (via Google sign-in)
- Usage data: pages visited, search queries, colleges compared, and rank predictor inputs
- Correction reports: your name, phone number, college affiliation, and the data corrections you submit
- Payment data: for mentorship bookings — transaction IDs processed by Cashfree. We do not store card or bank details.
- Communications: messages sent to us via email or the contact form
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide and improve the getKollege platform, tools, and content
- Personalize your experience (saved colleges, rank history)
- Process mentorship bookings and send booking confirmations
- Review user-submitted data corrections to keep college data accurate
- Send important service updates and security notices
- Analyze anonymous usage patterns to improve our tools
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Keep you signed in across sessions (authentication cookies)
- Remember your preferences and saved colleges
- Understand how users navigate the platform via analytics (Microsoft Clarity)
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features may not function correctly without them.
4. Data Sharing
We share your data only in these limited circumstances:
- Mentors: when you book a session, your name and email are shared with the mentor to facilitate the call
- Service providers: Cloudinary (image hosting), Cashfree (payments), MongoDB Atlas (database), Vercel (hosting) — all bound by their respective privacy policies
- Legal requirements: if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by writing to support@getkollege.com.
Anonymised analytics data may be retained longer for platform improvement purposes.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard measures including HTTPS encryption, secure database access controls, and regular audits. However, no system is 100% secure — if you suspect unauthorised access to your account, contact us immediately.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)

8. Children's Privacy
getKollege is intended for students aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or a prominent notice on the platform. Continued use of getKollege after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
